Indian Spring Petroglyph Site

  • Feb 2, 2013 · 8:15 AM

Michael Savala has offered to host this new adventure for the HHH. Thank you Michael for sharing this site!

He writes:

Indian Spring Petroglyph Site is in the EagleTail Wilderness west of Tonopah. The hike is a moderate 8 mile round trip with a 300 ft elevation change.
There is so much to see at this well preserved site. There are many petroglyphs and bedrock mortars in the area. This will be my 3rd trip there and I still find new things. The trail is well established but one can lose the trail when hiking thru the wash midway thru the hike.

Directions
The trailhead is on a dirt road that is passable by a high clearance vehicle. My friends Toyota Highland made it thru twice. We will take I10 West past Tonopah. We will get off the West Salome Exit #81 and go south. The road twist west then south again. We will travel south on N. Harquahala Valley Rd. We will turn west on Courthouse Rd. From here I will have to be in the lead. There are no signs directing one to the trailhead.

We will be in the full sun on the entire hike. There is no shade from any mountains. The brush is low.

Meet at 8:15 at Costco, 10000 West McDowell Rd, near 99th Ave & McDowell Rd, southwest corner near the gas pumps

Wow is the word of the day. Michael is an awesome leader. Thank you so very much for sharing the hike with us today. I learned so many things. I will always treasure the photos and your lovely daughter Jessica is a chip of the old block. She helped me see things and we found some really cool sights!

This process is ABYSMAL (extremely bad) when it comes to being on the "Waitlist"!! All other Meet ups work it on the next in line moves up to the attending list. Why is it that HHH not do it that way?? I work using a cmputer 8 hours daily and don't have time to check my e-mail every 10 minutes to see if I need to respond to something. We should JUST Automatically be moved up to attending. Period, END of Subject. We have put our name on the "Waitlist" because we want to attend. PLEASE change the way HHH moves waitlist people...

I live a block away from the carpool location, so even if its 7 am let me know about the dog, he is a trail trained and stays next to me.

There is no RSVP option available for me to respond. Does that mean I need to wait for the other 4 people waiting before me to reply before I have the option to RSVP?

Terry I dont know the answer to your question.

There were two spots open on Wednesday and there was no option for me to RSVP. I looked all over three times for over 30 minutes. I think the RSVP option only is offered to the number of people on the waiting list that equals the spaces available. I am still getting emails stating there is space available ( 2 today) but when I check out the link the same ten people are going and it says there are no more remaining spaces.

we rode together in Robert's jeep to Devil's Chasm back in October. I remember you live in Queen Creek. I live in Mesa near US60 and Gilbert. Do you want to meet us at the McDonalds at Baseline and Gilbert so you don't have to drive all the way out there? Let me know.

I'm not necessarily saying I'm driving, but I have a 4WD vehicle and can drive, so there will be room.

    January 30, 2013

    • Michael S.

It will be about an 7-8 hours from the time we leave Costco and return to Costco (if you carpool and need to pick up your vehicle.)
