8 miles RT Moderate 1,800 ft elevation gain

Carpool 7:30am, Hike 9:30am

Join me on this lovely loop featured in next month's issue of ARIZONA HIGHWAYS magazine! We'll start on the Gouldmine Trail 1.1 miles, then take a Left on the Sendero Esperanza Trail for 1 mile. At the junction of the Hugh Norris Trail we'll take a Right for 2.2 miles of splendid views and unique rock formations until it reaches Amole Peak. The next 0.8 miles climbs a series of switchbacks to the top of Wasson Peak, elevation 4,687, the highest point in the Tucson Mountains. On our return, we will take the King Canyon Trail and stop at Mam-A-Gah Picnic Area named after a Tohono O'odham Indian Chief for a picnic lunch! Please note that we will have to carry our picnic items in our packs & pack out all trash, as the picnic area is 1 mile from the trailhead! PLEASE INDICATE IN YOUR RSVP WHAT PICNIC ITEM YOU ARE BRINGING SO WE DON'T DUPLICATE FOOD ITEMS!

Saguaro National Park Pass $10 or America the Beautiful Pass required for each vehicle. No pets allowed on trails! Wilderness Limit 18!

Carpool: 7:30am Einstein Bagels 4803 E. Ray Rd Ahwatukee 85044

Directions to Trailhead: Take I-10 East to Speedway Blvd. Turn Right (West) and go 12 miles to Kinney Rd. Turn Right on Kinney Rd and continue for 4.5 miles to the Red Hills Visitor Center, 2700 N. Kinney Rd. We will obtain park passes here and then go back 2 miles to the trailhead which is located across from the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.

Bring: 3-4 liters water, sack lunch, a picnic item to share with the group (fruit, veggies, cheese & crackers, chips, hummus, plates/napkins/forks, etc), hat, sunscreen, camera.

The grapes were good, but let's not forget the nuts! As always, Shannon, it was an awesome time. You are truly a great hike host.
