Mount Union Ridgeline - Snow Hike Summit Bag
Friday, February 8, 2013
8:00 AM

Meetup location:
Mount Union Trailhead
End of Poachers Row (1/2 Mile South of Walker Road), Prescott, AZ

Mount Union Traihead 6940'
Mount Union Summit 7979'
Tower Climb 8007'
Hike Length 1.32 Miles
Cumulative Elevation Gain 1154'
Downloadable Google Earth 3D Satellite View of Trail Map:

The first 1/2 mile is fairly easy with just 200' in elevation gain.
The last 0.8 miles is where we will rack up 1000' in gain.

We will take the Deandra Trail #285 about a 1/2 mile, then take what was formerly a wildlife path and traverse the north ridgeline to summit tower.

Waterproof hiking boots or Snow shoes; waterproof gloves; ski pants; trekking poles recommended. A thermos with hot chocolate is always a great reward upon bagging the summit.

This is a rigorous workout and very challenging.

From Highway 69 take Walker Road 10.4 Miles to Potato Patch (Poachers Row); continue south on Poachers Row to its dead end which is the Mt. Union trailhead.

4WD or AWD or Snow Chains are required. If you do not have either, I would happily pick up anyone at the Walker Fire Station and shuttle to the trailhead.
