Abineau / Bear Jaw Loop, a scenic loop hike on the north side of the San Francisco Peaks. The trail passes through large Aspen forests on its 2.5 mile climb to the intersection of the waterline trail where we will pause for lunch. The loop continues down the Waterline trail (old forest road ) to the Bear Jaw Trail and wanders back through pine and aspen forests back to the trail head.

We will be going north on I17, take Miltion/66 thru flagstaff, Left on Humphreys St, Left on Fort Valley RD (HWY180). Take Hwy 180 north to the second FR151 turn off(past the Nordic Center) then follow FR418 (to the left) to the trail head.
Abineau - Bear Jaw loop Distance Round Trip ~7 miles. For stronger hikers, the loop has some steep parts and is at significant elevation.

Elevation Gain: 1960 feet
Accumulated Gain: 2115 feet
Avg Time Round Trip: 5 hours
