We did a part of the Maricopa Trail south of Lake Pleasant today. It was a very nice walk in the desert without anyone around. We went south first and followed the trail to where it goes into the Aqua Fria riverbed. Then we went east and followed the trail as originally planned.
We will meet at the carpool or the trailhead (7:30)
The plan for this Sunday hike to to walk south and follow the riverbed for a few miles and see what we can see.
Total Distance: 6-7 out and back
Difficulty: Snakes and Lizards but not the hike
This is a map of the entire trail (not finished yet)
This is the area we will be Find the Aqua Fria trail head in the lower left. We will be going south (unmarked) forging our own trail
Directions to trail head: I17 north to exit 223 West Rt 74 Lake Pleasant Highway. go west approx 10 miles...take the first right (Beardsly) after the Marina turnoff. It is at the bottom of the hill, well before the turn off for Lake Pleasant. Follow that road till you see a sign with a U turn for parking for the trailhead. Pull in and park. All roads are paved
