Full Moon Hike from 40th Street Trailhead in Phoenix

Let's celebrate Christmas: feel free to bring xmas goodies to share at the top.  Top marks to anyone bringing up a whole turkey with stuffing. :)

***Bring a fleece - it could get chilly as we hang out to watch Mr. Moon rise.  Last month, he was gorgeously orange and big.  Amazing!!

The peak is now called Dixie Peak and the preserve has conveniently shown the name on the post that takes us to the right about half way up.

Length: about 3 miles, but don't let the short distance fool you - it's very steep

Time: between hiking and picnicking - about 2-3 hours

What to bring: headlamp/flashlight, water of course, picnic items to share

We'll welcome Mr. Moon as he rises at 6:54 pm.

Note: the trail is steep and rather rocky; not recommended for beginners

Directions to trailhead: take Shea Blvd to 40th Street, turn south and go a few blocks to the parking lot at the end of the road.

I'm collecting voluntary $1 to donate to the meetup fund to cover costs of managing the site, thanks to our fearless leader Gary.
