Just getting to the trailhead is an awe-inspiring experience through the back side of the Superstitions. Starting from the Rogers Trough Trailhead, we begin on the Reavis Ranch Trail 109 and then take a left on Rogers Canyon Trail 110 after 1.6 miles. Keep going another 2.5 miles along the creek to the cliff dwellings, which have been there for over 700 years. The Antiquities Act protects these dwellings so please treat them with respect and do not climb on the walls or roofs! Optional lunch afterwards at BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse 6622 E. Carpool: 7am Burger King US 60/Power Rd (see address above) Park on the East side of Burger King.
Directions to Trailhead:Take US 60 East. Two miles past Florence Junction, turn North on Queen Valley Rd & follow 1.6 miles. Turn RIGHT on FS 357 (Hewlett Station Rd) & follow about 3 miles to FS 172. Turn LEFT & go 9.1 miles to FS 172A. Turn RIGHT & go 3.8 miles to the Rogers Trough Trailhead. The last mile requires high clearance four-wheel drive due to ruts and a super steep hill.
Bring: Minimum 4 liters water, high energy snacks/lunch, hat, sunscreen and camera.
