Howdy, Hikers! I have had to change this hike back to Dixie. It seems that all of us who know the alternate route previously listed, to Union Mt. will not be attending, so it's back to Dixie, which most of the current signups are familiar with. Sorry for the false alarm. Dixie Mtn. is tucked away in the middle of the Preserve and offers a fine view of the North Valley. After a steady and gradual uphill climb, the wide bicycle trail of the preserve gives way to a steep bugger of a final quarter mile to the summit. Beginners welcome: Since we come back the same way, tired hikers can stop before the last climb and catch us on the way down. The hike returns via the same route. Most of the hike will be in the dark, so don't forget your light.
