WARNING: After my last adventure at Salida Gulch I feel that I must warn you that I have not done this hike before and am basing the directions once again on hikearizona.com. Since most of the hikes I lead I haven't done, I am comfortable with that. If you are also feel free to join me. Now on to the fun.
Distance: 6.6 miles total out and back
Elevation: 1000ft down then up, but the up is spread over 3.3 miles
Difficulty: Moderate to difficult, maybe some bushwacking (after Salida gulch I may never say easy again)
A NEW ADVENTURE
If you read the write up on the link below this sounds like a nice hike through a large pine and oak tree forest. For those of you that have done Mingus Mtn. we start in the same place but go to the south side rather than the north. If we are lucky maybe the leaves will have started to change. We will follow Trail 110 to Trail 9037 to FR 413 then back the way we came.
Here is the link Please read more and copy it for the trip: http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=2198
We will meet at Fry's at 7AM and at the trailhead a little after 9. Bring something to nosh on when we hit the turnaround point. Lunch is open for discussion. Maybe someplace in Prescott Valley.
Directions to hike: From the Highway 89/Highway 89A junction just north of Prescott go east on 89A toward Jerome for 18.9 miles. At the top of the mountain at milepost 336.6 turn right onto FR104 toward Mingus Mountain summit. For beginning trail at Gaddes Canyon Trail #110: Continue 2.25 miles and turn right on FR104B. Continue about .2 miles to trailhead on left.
Bring lots of water, sun screen , good shoes.
