Boynton Canyon, Sedona, AZ

Denise has offered to host this beautiful Sedona hike.  Thanks so much for your contribution Denise!

She writes:

Length: 5.0 mi Round Trip, elevation change, roughly 400'.

This beautiful canyon is one of my favorites in this area. Hopefully we can enjoy some fall color. The trail starts out at the Enchantment Resort, then flattens out for an easy stroll through the woods. Then at the end we ascend over the tree line for spectacular views of the canyon. Here we can enjoy trail snacks and the stunning views.

Please meet at Fry's Grocery at I-17 and Bell Road for carpool. We can meet at 8am.

Barring contingencies, we will probably get to the trailhead around 10am.

If you want to go without carpooling, the trailhead directions are:
Drive north on I-17 to the Sedona Exit. From here follow the signs into Sedona. When you get to the big roundabout, follow the route to 89A to the west. Continue through Sedona to Dry Creek Road at the southwest end of town. Turn north (right) on Dry Creek Road and follow the signs to Boynton Canyon. You'll find a parking lot and the trailhead just outside the entrance to the Enchantment Resort. There is a parking fee!

I will have printed directions and maps at the carpool area.

Optional meal in Sedona after!

I'm up in Prescott during the week so instead of heading toward the Valley Fri PM, I'll just drive up to Sedona Sat AM and meet you all at the trailhead. I think I've only been to one other event. Apparently I hiked too slowly and ended up walking alone for much of the hike, but hey, meeting up with myself can be kinda fun sometimes.

Great hike! Not sure if it's in the plans, but maybe check out the upper and lower cliff dwellings there if you get a chance. Great fall colors from there!

I don't know the lower cliff dwellings. I've found about three sites in that canyon.

My hubby and I were planning to do this hike on this date so we'd love to join you. We'll be "carrying" our 2 yorkies because we are spending the night in Oak Creek. If anyone minds us bringing along the pups please let me know.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
