Let's get back to our roots with this annual Christmas hike and picnic celebration. This event originally was created for all of those who had no family to celebrate with on Christmas day. Once again we are back to Christmas day and invite all who have no family here to be with or anyone wishing to share in a pleasant hike and picnic at scenic Saguaro Lake.
Please bring something to share after our hike. Traditionally this picnic has included all the foods that we shouldn't eat...cakes, pies, cookies, etc.... Get the idea...
Hopefully Inkeri will attend and bring that amazing soup!
Please join us and celebrate with friends.
Please note what you will be sharing in your RSVP.
The trail is rated easy and 5 miles in length. We will depart the beach in the Butcher Jones recreation area and walk to the Burro Cave Vista and retrace our steps. What a great way to celebrate and enjoy the friendship we all have during this holiday season.
A Tonto Pass is required for parking at the park. Drivers, please pick one up before heading to the parking area. Sportsmen's Warehouse is one location you can purchase one.
Directions to the trailhead: Take SR87, the Beeline Highway, to FR 204, Bush Highway, and proceed east toward Saguaro Lake. Travel 3 miles to the signed Butcher Jones turnoff turning left and follow to the end and the Butcher Jones Recreation area.
Carpool location: Please meet at the Target shopping Center on Shea Blvd. in Fountain Hills. This is located about a mile east of the Beeline Highway and a bit east of Saguaro and Shea intersection in Fountain Hills. Please meet out near the wall along side Shea Blvd. and be ready to leave promptly at 8:15.
Please bring water for sure and anything you may wish to share on the beach.
