This is 4 Miles RT... 1100' elevation gain

6940' base elevation @ Union Trailhead...the first 1/2 mile is a warmup; relatively easy up Trail #285 (Deandra Trail); then the fun begins; we will go up a wildlife trail traversing the full spine UP to the Mt. Union Saddle...then to the Mt. Union Tower (7979' elevation)....from there we will take the Yankee Doodle Trail over to the backsides of Mt. Davis; then freestyling back down to the trailhead.

Along the spine we will pass numerous abandoned gold mines. Lots of photo opportunities towards Mt. Humphreys/Prescott and Phoenix

For those hiking Mt. Whitney next year...pack all your Whitney gear for this hike to be a Whitney simulator mini training hike.

Limited parking @ trailhead.

Depart MG Lodge 7AM.

Ascent from Union Trailhead 7:15am.

To MG: Highway 60 to Walker Road (MP 293), south on Walker Road 10.5 miles to Poachers Row (Potato Patch entrance). South on Poachers Row to first Right which is Black Lode Trail; up Black Lode Trail 0.25 miles to the big brown Metal gate; the MG is the green roofed lodge to the RIGHT/NORTH of the gate.

TO Mt. Union Trailhead. South on Poachers Row all the way to the dead end.
