What we’re about
The Hiking Hikers Hiking Group (“3H”), established in 2006, is one of the oldest outdoor activities groups in the Valley of the Sun. 3H is proud of the many hiking and other outdoor activity meetup groups that have been spun off from its original meetup model. 3H seeks, through its members and member volunteers, to provide a supportive, nurturing environment for people to enjoy and explore the outdoors; increase awareness of and protect beautiful wild places; and promote physical conditioning and encourage personal growth.
3H encourages its members, comprised of singles, committed couples and married couples from the early twenties to the late seventies and beyond, to be well-prepared for each event attended by taking personal responsibility for their own safety and educating themselves on the skills and knowledge needed to be safe in the many places near and far that this group visits.
Education, common sense, respect for others and the willingness to help, by all of us, provides a fun, safe, and positive experience for everyone.

- Description: Join us for a scenic hike along the Beverly Canyon, Ridgeline and Javelina Trails on the north side of South Mountain. From Beverly Canyon, we will loop back via the Ridgeline and Javelina Trails. This will be a fairly fast-pace nonsweep hike. If you hike at a slow to moderate speed, we usually wait for a bit after the first couple of hills, but if you are significantly slower then the rest of the group I would recommend turning around since we try to hike as a group. I hope to see you there!
- Distance: About 4 miles (about 2 hours). A moderate hike. There are a few 400' climbs during the first 2 miles.
- Please bring good walking shoes, a flashlight, and water.
- Leashed dogs are fine on this hike.

- Winona Craters – East of Flagstaff – crater hopping – 5 summits – Very DifficultNeeds location
This hike will include numerous summits in one day, all off of Leupp Road north of Winona, AZ. None of these are particularly difficult on their own, but add them all up, and it’s a solid day of hiking.
The five summits are Merriam Mountain, Cochrane Hill, Junction Crater, North Sheba Crater, and Peak 6430. It is a 14 mile day of peak-bagging with over 4,000’ of elevation gain. Of course, folks don’t have to do every summit – only I do!

The routes will be a mix of open slope and trail, with the first three peaks. The last two have trails. The last hike is longest.
Cochrane Hill 6,954' - 2.6 miles round trip and 800' total gain
Peak 6430 - 1.3 miles round trip and 350' total gain
Junction Crater 6,319' - 1.3 miles round trip and 470' total gain
North Sheba Crater 6,407' - 2.7 miles round trip and 800' total gain
Merriam Mountain 6,813' - 6 miles round trip and 1,620' total gainREAD THE FOLLOWING: The Organizer of this trip is a VOLUNTEER, not a "leader". The organizer IS NOT trained in first aid and is not a bonded expert mountain guide. You will need to bring your own experience and judgment. If you want to enjoy the benefits of traveling in a group, then we suggest that you stay with the group on the trip.
The waitlist is created to ensure we have enough vehicles to reach the starting point and to allow for hikers in the group who have demonstrated the ability for tougher hikes and consistency of showing up when they RSVP. Those who have RSVPed multiple times and have always cancelled or been a no-show will be moved to, or kept on the waitlist until others who are more likely to come are given an opportunity to RSVP. Organizers now have member history, and we know if you have no-showed in the past and what hikes you have joined. I will also try and add new people where appropriate. However, if on your profile you don’t have at least a first name and a clear profile photo, I may remove you from the Waitlist.

About your organizer: My name is Dan. I moved to the Phoenix area in early 2017. I have organized over 200 hikes for various groups – including in Arizona, the Sierras, and Northern Nevada. I tend to choose mountain summits I have never done before. I do as much preparation and mapping as I can to ensure we take the correct trails. However, when driving to and hiking in a new area, there are always surprises and unknowns.
This hike is subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to inclement weather.
