Trekking in Peru- anyone have experience?

I'm contemplating booking a 9 day trek in Peru this fall (Choquequirao to Machu Picchu trek). Has anyone done this trek or similar? If so, I'd love to hear the about the good/bad/ugly as well as any tips you might have.

I did the 6 hour hike at Machu Picchu and met people who went on treks similar to yours. Every one I spoke to said they had a great experience. Please give yourself some time to acclimate to the altitude. I know time is valuable, but you will enjoy Machu Pichu much more if you spend a few days in Cusco drinking cocoa de matte. Cusco is a great small town. A beautiful place to spend a few days. Also pay attention to the weather. When the rains come they really come down hard during the rainy season. You might try to plan the trip during the drier months.

Hope you decide to take the trip. I know you will have a memorable experience.
