VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Abound!
In the coming months, outdoor VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES abound! Your help is needed for such tasks as trail building, erosion control, improvements to existing trails, and the removal of invasive plant species to name a few. Below are a few organizations with which to lend a hand:
- Volunteers for Outdoor Arizona (VOAz) www.voaz.org
- Arizona Wilderness Coalition (AWC) www.azwild.org
- Flagstaff Biking Organization (FBO) www.FlagstaffBiking.org
- Arizona Trail Association (ATA) AZtrail.org
All of the aforementioned organizations require registration prior to participation. Some organizations provide food, beverages, and overnight facilities for multi-day events. Most provide training and tools. Follow the links provided for more information on volunteering for an event.
Jim "The Hircine Man" has participated in several trail maintenance projects in the past several years. He finds volunteering to be a rewarding experience and takes pride in pointing out the sections of trails he's worked on---Way to go, Jim!
