Tibetan Buddhist Meditation: Calm & Clear
Lama Jigme, spiritual director, Orgyan Osal Cho Dzong Buddhist Temple and Retreat Centre, will be giving an ongoing series of introductory talks on the theory and practice of Buddhist meditation, focusing on mindfulness of the breath to still the mind, and the utilization of this mental calm to develop insight into the nature of the self, the world and one's inherent Buddha Nature.
Using the profound yet simple technique of mindfulness of the breath, we gradually learn to quite our turbulent thoughts, memories, and emotions. Within this clear, radiant space we are able to gain insight into our mental processes and recognize our inherent Buddha Nature - the vast, free and completely enlightened reality at the heart of all beings. This can be practiced by anyone, of any or no religious affiliation whatsoever, the only requirement being an eventual commitment to practice meditation on a daily basis.
Everyone is welcome, whether you are new to the practice of meditation or have some previous experience. Each session will begin with a brief talk followed by meditation instruction and practice.
