Raising Startup Capital - TIE Bootstrap Series

One of the most critical issues facing entrepreneurs is deciding if and when it makes sense to raise outside capital. In today's entrepreneurial environment, there are many funding options and competitive pressures to grow rapidly. Access to capital cannot only help accelerate product development and sales, but in many cases, partnering with the right investors can influence the trajectory of a business.

In this discussion, we'll learn how an initial round of investment is priced and negotiated, and the implications on value retention and control for founders. We'll also take a longer term perspective by examining how a seed round can influence the future "fund-ability" of a startup, and alternatives in how startups can best deploy their new-found capital to efficiently grow their business.

Speaker: Arie Abecassis is co-founder of AppStori, a crowdsourcing platform for mobile entrepreneurs, and a Venture Partner at DreamIt Ventures. He also serves on on the boards of several companies including SeatGeek, Adaptly and BiznessApps. His thoughts on tech and entrepreneurship have appeared in Mashable, VentureBeat and the Wall Street Journal.

Fitbark Demo:

This event will also feature a presentation by FitBark, created by our very own Operating Committee member Davide Rossi, which has been featured on TechCrunch and is running a much talked about Kickstarter campaign.

"TiE Bootstrap" is a focused series of panel discussions and workshops for entrepreneurs considering a new venture or in the Growth stage. In the panel discussions we will hear from leaders and peers on their experiences, best practices, actionable strategy and tactical advice.
