2.People who are supporting a friend or a family member with pain or fatigue conditions.
3.Volunteers who believe in empowerment and are willing to support our community
Who should not join?
- Any kind of doctors/solicitors/salespersons seeking clients
1. Break Isolation - Research shows that isolation could make everything worse, including our health, well being and relationship.
2. Share & Support - People with chronic pain and fatigue and people who support them share many common experience and struggles that are usually hard to articulate and share. To get together with others with similar experience, to share and to be understood remind us that "we are not alone" and make our experience more manageable.
3. Move Forward & Don't Give Up! - With chronic challenges we often experience low moods, anxiety, pain and lack of energy, etc. It's easy to get us down and stuck in the dark. Think about people who had a stroke or a serious accident that took away most of their abilities, some of them would still try to engage in activities like learning to walk, to speak, to hold a glass by themselves, to take baby steps towards improvements and a better quality of life. No matter where we are at right now, we believe there are always things we can learn and do to lift us up and move a little. As a group, we can learn and share energy and strategies to keep moving forward in meaningful ways.
Linus started this group in 2008 for several women friends who are also living with FM. In the last few years, we gradually evolved from having cozy face-to-face meetings, occasional community seminars and workshops, to hosting this online platform, sharing non-profit driven and non-commercial news and resources relevant to people with FM, chronic pain and fatigue conditions.
Our group name TIGER stands for Toronto Initiative for Growth, Empowerment & Resilience.
"Tiger" in many ancient cultures represent "strength, positive energy and good health". We sincerely hope everyone in our group, despite of our challenges, can create and enjoy positive energy and strengths in life.
