Holiday Tabletop Tuesdays at Durty Nellie's

SPECIAL HOLIDAY CELEBRATION - The owner of Durty Nellie's wants to treat the people of Tabletop Tuesdays for the holidays.  There will be a free raffle for a $50 gift certificate to THE GAMING GOAT!  I will be working with the Executive Chef at Nellie's to possibly set up nerdy food specials as well.  If you can only make it to one Tabletop Tuesday this month - this would be the one!

Here's what I'll be raffling off this Tuesday:
Donated by the owner of Durty Nellie's:
- $50 Gift Certificate to The Gaming Goat
Donated by Evan from The Gaming Goat:
- King of Tokyo Halloween Expansion
Donated by me:
- Zombie Dice
- Love Letter
- Zombicide Season 2: Prison Outbreak (Core Game)

Every Tuesday we meet at the local restaurant and bar Durty Nellie's, in Palatine. Members from all over the Northwest suburbs gather to sit down and play all sorts of tabletop games.  Located at the center of Palatine, and right next to the train station, it's easy to find and has lots of space to play.

-Have a game you like to play? Drop in and gather a couple of us to play.
-Have a game you made? Bring it along and play test it with us.
-Have a game you want to try? Ask around and find someone to teach you.

We normally have about 40 games and anywhere from 30 to 50 gamers. We get a private room and enjoy everything from the company, to a selection of geeky movies and TV shows on all of the TVs, to the wide selection of craft beers and cocktails.

COST: Completely FREE - the only costs you may have are for any food or drinks you may enjoy while you're there.

AGE: There is no required age to attend the event here, however Durty Nellie's asks that all players under 21 leave when the restaurant closes at 10:00PM. Those under 21 can still enjoy 3 hours of gaming.  Generally we have players from ages 19 to 50 who drop by.

PARKING: Plenty of parking is available.  You can either park in the Nellie's lot, or if it's full you can park in the parking garage behind the building.  Permits are only required to park there until 5:00PM.

We have tons of games and gamers at all sorts of levels of experience. We even have a few people so familiar with most games that they either run games for new players or pop in to answer any and all questions about them.

This event is what started it all! Come on by and meet up!!!

Description updated! I just picked everything up for the raffle. The owner of Nellie's got us a $50 gift certificate to The Gaming Goat, the general manager of the Schaumburg Gaming Goat Evan donated the Halloween expansion to King of Tokyo, and I bought a copy of Love Letter, Zombie Dice, and the 2nd version of the core game for Zombicide!

I look forward to seeing you all there. Happy Holidays to all!

I actually decided on that one because you and I kept talking about wanting to try it but being cautious due to the price tag.

Fantastic turnout! We had 54 gamers show up for our last Tuesday of the year. Congratulations to everyone that won something at the raffle! A special thanks to CW for donating the wine basket, there were a surprising amount of tickets in there. Thank you all so much for such a great time. I didn't get a chance to count how many different games were played but off the top of my head it was around over 20 different games! I hope everyone had a great time, I know I did!

Great holiday celebration - support from Durty Nellie's, the Gaming Goat, Kevin and even attendees like CW bringing items for the raffles/giveaways.

So I'm hoping to get some thoughts from my fellow gamers: The owner of Durty Nellie's plans on giving away a $50 gift certificate, as we know, at this event. I've had others express interest in having other items in the raffle. I am all for this idea, however... things cost money :/ I had a thought; if we charge a dollar or two for raffle tickets, I can use every dime that we gather for purchasing more goodies. Would anyone have interest in me organizing a larger raffle? My fear is that no one would have interest in buying raffle tickets, then I will spend tons of money on prizes and only make back a tiny tiny portion of the money.

If you guys have interest in this, then we can try and see how it goes. The best part is - if it's a success then I will have any extra money raised to do it again and again, or even just buy treats for everyone.

    Let me know your thoughts!

Hi Kevin - I would as well however I am not personally in need of additional incentives to come. Maybe others are. I would hate to see you come up short with all of the rest of what you are doing for Tabletop Tuesdays.
