Help lead an Umstead Ride

The Umstead Coalition is once again holding their Walk/Bike/Run event on April 20th.

The ride leaves at 9:30 am and requires some bikers to help lead and sweep for the ride.  In the past it has been necessary to have about 6 people.  One up front and the rest spread out behind.  A couple of the people in the back should be prepared to break off from the ride and escort riders back to the event if they discover the ride was too difficult for them.

Event details:

If you plan to attend as a participant, please RSVP on the Umstead Coalition site.  If you plan to volunteer for the ride, please RSVP here and on the Umstead Coalition site.

Note, volunteers get in to the event free.  Make sure you arrive with time to park and prepare before the 9:30 ride.

New for this year, TORC will have matching Trail Ambassador jersey's to wear throughout the event.  This will help people identify the ride volunteers.

Hi Gary, The ride leaves at 9:30am and they are usually pretty prompt. As long as you are parked and ready to go by 9am you should be fine, but there are some volunteer forms to fill out and such so leave enough time for that stuff. TORC will have a tent at the event where the volunteers can gather.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
