Due to interest and demand in conducting Seminars and Skills Clinic for Mountain Bike Riders in the Triangle, TORC and Trek Bicycles of Raleigh, http://trekraleigh.com/, have combined efforts to conduct this event.
This event will be comprised of a "Hands On" Skills Clinic at the North Wake Landfill District Park for Beginner Riders.
WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU ATTEND THE "Mountain Biking Basics" - Hosted By Trek of Raleigh, Raleigh, NC event, http://www.meetup.com/torc-nc/events/138748052/, PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE SKILLS CLINIC!!!

The park is located in North Raleigh off Durant Road between Falls of Neuse Road and Capital Blvd. *Note* There is not a sign on Durant Road for the park. After you turn onto Deponie Drive, follow the road around to the right through gates and past the old scalehouse for the Landfill. Continue down the road past the Household Hazardous Waste drop off on your right. The entrance to park will be on your left. Continue left around the landfill hill. We will meet at the paved parking lot that is in front of the building that houses the restrooms.
Topics covered in the Skills Clinic will include: 1) Bike Setup, 2) Trail Preparedness, 3) Shared Use Etiquette / IMBA's Rules Of The Trails, 4) Simple Maintenance Tips, 5) Proper Rider Position, 6) Controlled Braking / Slow Technical Maneuvering, and many other topics. We will cover as many topics as time permits. Also, we will go for a ride on the trails before the conclusion of the event to practice the skills that we will teach.
RSVP's will be limited to 18 and fulfilled on a "First-Come, First-Served" Basis.
Mandatory Items To Bring: 1) Mechanically Sound Bike, 2) Helmet, 3) Protective Eye Wear, 4) Gloves, 5) Water(!!!), 6) Mountain Bike Shoes (if you have), 7) Bike Shorts, (if you have), 8) Upper Body Clothing, (Wicking Material Shirt or Jersey), 9) Energy Snacks, 10) Sunscreen. AGAIN, ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE MANDATORY (except as noted)!!!
We will have Tools for Basic Repairs and Adjustments and a First Aid Kit available.
