Beginner dirt jump clinic/Dirt Jam and Strider Bike Race

Hey everyone, we are doing a intro to the intermediate dirtjumps at Crabtree. So put on your flat pedals (this is mandatory, we don't want people trying these for the 1st time clipped in) and come out and give it a try. The dj's will only be open for people in the session, in other words, there won't be a bunch of shredders out there to intimidate the riders who want to try them for the 1st time. We will start around 10 and ride til 12, then we will open the dj's to everyone (by then you all will be boosting the dubs). Even if you thought you would never ride these come out, it should be a great time!

From 12-? Jam session

1-2 pm Strider Race, bring your kids for a Strider bike race!

p.s. Helmets are required for all!

Great time! Despite the large number of people, everyone got more than plenty of runs in. Phenomenal to watch the experts on the advanced jumps. All instructors were helpful and attentive. Very nice people!

That was a really great time! Thankyou so much to everyone who participated in this event. A big Thankyou to the instructors and all the people with cameras too. It was great having the instructors help the brand new people like myself, conquer our fears and navigate those AWESOME jumps! I can't say enough. It was really wonderful. For anybody who missed it, especially new riders, this is the place to learn and enjoy yourself, while also meeting some great poeple. Can't wait to do it again. Now I can practice on my own and get some "air'. Thanks again everyone! Thankyou TORC

That was a lot of fun! Does anyone know who that was taking pictures at the end of the jump line for the clinic and where they'll be posted?

    September 29, 2013

    • Debbie

I was one of them but I had to delete a lot. I'll post them here.

Hey All: I wanted to make sure everyone knew of the after ride lunch buffet at Rally Point Grill, BIG supporter of the Biking community.
We typically hold a 10am ride, ride for a few hours and then head over for lunch. Obviously this event will be considered our 'ride'.

$1 buffet! Menu is Chicken Alfredo, Salad and Garlic Bread.
Natty Greene's Southern on special. $3

Just a reminder that helmets are mandatory. We also recommend running flat pedals. See you guys and gals in 6 days!

My guest is my family and they may not ride but just watch.

How beginner is beginner? I have gone there and ran the small course several times and can clear them all. I also can clear the first jump in the "big" line but none of the rest, YET. So I guess I am not a beginner jumper, I just want to get better. I don't mind practicing any size jump, but I want to make sure I am not in the way or whatever.

    September 13, 2013

    • Rob B.

yes I can clear the small line. The locals said clear those then try the big line. So I did and I cleared the first jump in the big line a couple of times. So I will come bone don't feel like you need to cater to me.

      September 14, 2013

    • Don F.

Cool, maybe we can open the big line for the last part of the clinic for the more advanced riders

      September 14, 2013

  • Bob

This sounds like fun! Would a full suspension bike be ok or should I bring a rigid?

    September 12, 2013

    • Don F.

Whatever you are most comfortable on, I would suggest running flat pedals though.

      September 12, 2013

  • Debbie

Beginner clinic only...and may stay to take pics. Just an fyi, for those going...lots are signed up on Facebook already...should be a happening event!

    September 9, 2013

    • Don F.

Yep Zoe! She'll be great, if we can understand her, haha

      September 10, 2013

    • Debbie

Zoe rocks!! I haven't seen her jump yet...just heard. If she jumps as fast as she rides, I may never see her...she'll be a blur! Love that girl! :-)
