TORC Ride @ RTP Trails (all skills)

TORC RTP Trails all skills

Directions and trail info:
Google Maps Parking Lot Location

Trail Map

Time: Arrive by ~5:45pm. Ride at 6:00pm

Type of ride: All skills, no drop ride; we can split into groups per experience level as necessary.

Speed: Probably a pace of around 6-9 mph avg speed.  I'm flexible.  Slow, fast, I don't really care.  I just want to get out of the office and ride a bit.

Distance: ~9 miles depending on group and ability.
Time spent riding: ~1.5 hours.  One lap is around 4.5 miles.  We can ride in different directions and make as many loops around as people want.  We'll never be too far from the parking lot if you want to bail early.

Difficulty: RTP Trails are listed on TMTB as intermediate, but perhaps comparable to Crabtree with fewer roots.  This is a fun flowy up and down trail that loops back on itself often so the ride options are endless.  There are a few fun technical spots and a very nice bridge.

Hello all, my brother is here visiting, does anybody have an extra bike he could use for today's ride? He's 5'8 and weighs around 160. Please let me know so :) Thank you in advance.

If you don't mind taking the toll road the quickest way from there is to take 540 and get off at the 147/RTP expressway exit. From there take the Davis Drive exit and go left. From Davis make a right onto Kit Creek Road at Cisco Systems. About 2 miles down make a left at the light onto Louis Stephens. About a half mile down you'll see the volley ball courts and parking lot on the right.

Awesome response, Anthony!! I nominate you to take over the Friday Social ride next year ..and have it at RTP which is more central to the Triangle. Think about it! If every Friday is unappeaiing, then alternating with another leader doing the Crabtree ride? All in favor? Aye! :-)

Thanks but your Friday ride is too good/popular to change anything. I like Crabtree but it was so dusty out there on Wednesday I thought RTP might be a good alternative for today. Alternating could work but I don't know if RTP is big enough for those days when we get 30+ show up.

First ride since my daughter was born!

Congrats on the birth of your daughter. I remember that muggy Friday Umstead ride after rain ran us out of Crabtree. What's her name? I remember that you were keeping it a secret until she was born.

Good memory on all accounts! Isabelle Grace Carey, born July 19 at 7lb 10oz.
