This ride is a go. Meet 5:30 to 5:50, leave at 6 and out by 8 PM.
Meet at the Harrison Exit parking area for Umstead. This ride will be a little different than other night rides we do. The park wants a little more control so we may go out in 2 or 3 groups with ride leaders. There will be a set route and no individual riding or taking off to do your own thing. They do not want us riding Cedar Ridge. Bill Duke the ranger who is volunteering his time will be riding with us.
We will proceed out of the parking area down the hill to ORC, take a left on ORC and ride to the right turn that will take us on the gravel road around Sycamore lake. We will climb up to Graylyn and then connect onto N Turkey Creek trail. We will follow N Turkey to South Turkey and the final climb back up too the Harrison Parking area.
Type of ride: All skills, no drop ride; we can split into groups per experience level as necessary.
Speed: 8-13 mph
Distance: 14 miles
Time spent riding: ~2 hours, we must exit the park ~8:00ish.
Difficulty: Umstead has nice double track trails that pose a fun challenge at night and some nice climbs.
*Remember, please have a minimum of 200 lumen (light) and some hydration.
*You must wear a helmet.
Must park at Harrison Parking area. No entering from other parts of the park. Don't be that guy that ruins it for the rest of the group.
