TORC Beaverdam ride

If you have ridden Crabtree and/or Harris and are comfortable with those and want to try something new, bigger and tougher endurance-wise, please come out and join us!!  For newbies, expect a 2+ hour ride.

Typically, they stop charging the $6 entry fee after Labor day, however over the years, they've changed the rules a bit...so I'm not sure if there is an entry fee or not.

Where: Beaver Dam Ride Leader: Debbie

Planned Trail: West Loop then W. to S. to Drop Zone to S. to W.

Trail information: http://trianglemtb.co...

Tech Skill: Not a beginner trail, this trail has log piles, whoops, and some fairly tough climbs Physical Ability: No drops, should be in moderately good shape Ride Speed: We will group up based on riders preferred speed/ability Ride Speed: If we have enough people to have more than one group I will need someone to lead one of the groups. At least one group will be NO DROP. We will group up based on riders preferred speed/ability.

Planned Distance: ~12 miles

Planned Duration: ~2 hours (depending on endurance/skill level)  Be prepared, there are no bailouts after the first 2 miles.

Other Details: Safety Helmet is required

What time will they know if it's open? I went yesterday and it was closed due to the "rain".

    September 5, 2014

    • Debbie

Www.trianglemtb.com. If it didn't rain, then it's still open. Parks don't update til after they open.

      September 6, 2014

    • Debbie

No reason to think its closed IMO.

For longer rides such as this, make sure you have plenty of water and a snack! Also pack a spare tube and a master link appropriate for your chain. (You may see this comment more often on these rides...after many years of leading, I have provided so many of these things that I could probably go out and buy a nice bike. And more importantly, It is always good to be prepared!!)

Thx Kyle and Natalie! Welcome, Colton!! Yep...group rides at Beaverdam and Sanlee are perfect...the riders usually naturally group up and ride with those their speed. If you find yourself riding alone, just stop and wait a few minutes or ride slower and you'll find someone to ride with behind you. I sweep the rides so you won't get left behind. It's a fun time!! :-) Beginners are certainly welcome, but PLEASE make sure you're ready for the increased level of stamina. There are no bailouts after the first couple of miles.

Sorry I backed out. Heading home tomorrow morning.

Bad news... They are still charging $6 on weekends only, most likely thru October and into November or December even. Anyone going to bail based on this new information?? Any preference for riding New Light instead? I am happy with Beaverdam, but I have a season pass. Just want to be fair...

No problem paying the entry fee and will join if you do another one of these down the road but looks like I won't be able to make it Saturday.

Guess that I need to get my pennies out, lol! That's about what I pay each day in tolls so I guess that I can afford it :-)

If someone needs a lift around Brier Creek, give me a shout and I'll find someone to help you out, lol! Nah! Let me know, I have a bike rack.

  • Bill

I'm driving from Hillsborough area if anyone needs a lift/wants to carpool.

    September 3, 2014

  • Natalie

I'm OK with paying the fee. Haven't ridden Beaver Dam very much and would like to get a ride in there. I can carry 1 other bike so if someone needs a lift, we can make arrangements.
