Friends and fellow racers,
According to the good folks at Harris Lake County Park the Meltdown course is in great shape. Given the unstable weather, of course, that could still change. So, here is the rain plan.
If it remains entirely dry up to 6:00 AM Saturday morning, the race is on, rain or shine. If the approaching cold front spawns lightening and/or heavy winds, we may have to pull racers off the course for a time or even halt the race. However, the cold front is not predicted to arrive sometime in the afternoon which means we'll at least get several hours of good racing prior to it's arrival and may very well finish the event.
If Harris Lake gets washed out between now and 6:00 AM, we may yet be forced to postpone. If we have to postpone, we'll post on Meetup and/or TMTB by 6:00 AM Saturday morning. Please remember, just because it rains where you live, it doesn't mean it is raining at Harris Lake! Please check Meetup and/or TMTB.
In the meantime, please help us out by doing the following:
If there is any chance you're going to attend Meltdown please RSVP on Meetup. This will allow us to send an email only Meltdown attendees and not send to the entire TORC meetup list.
If you have paid on Meetup, we thank you. The less money we must take on race day the faster we'll be able to get everyone registered and on their way. If you are concerned we're going to have to postpone, don't worry about paying, but at least RSVP. Here is the Meetup link:
Now, even if you are sitting on the fence, have paid, or not, please take two more steps.
First, fill out the the online Meltdown Registration form. This enters your name, category, team name, etc. in the timing database. The form only takes a few moments to complete and makes registration easier for you and for us. If you decide not to come, we'll simply not assign your entry a number. So, give us a hand and fill out this form:
Secondly, please print out a waiver and fill it out before you get to the race. Here's the waiver:
Finally, the forecast is looking pretty good for the Meltdown, but who knows? Therefore, keep your eye on TMTB and Meetup.
Otherwise, I'm off to mark the course and set up the Meltdown. Here's looking forward to seeing you all in the morning.
