High Scalability Discussion & Beers

Hot on the heels of our kickoff meetup comes our second get-together! This one will be held in the ScribbleLive office at 488 Wellington St. West. As per your requests, this time around we'd like to do some presentations around high scalability (but don't worry, beers will still be served!).

That being said, if you have any interesting presentation ideas or suggestions please email jonathan+scalabilit[masked]. You're more than welcome to present something yourself if you have cool ideas, just email and let us know ahead of time!

Hope to see you there,

The Toronto High Scalability Team

Love it! Nothing beats a room full of super smart people talking ways to solve important problems.

Thanks again for everyone coming out and participating! It was great hearing about what everyone is using, and what they're doing with it. I loved all the discussion we got into. I posted my slides for the evening at http://www.slideshare.net/scribblelive/high-scalability-2-17761152

For our next meetup, we'll be soliciting ideas from the community for 10-20 minute presentations and discussions. Start thinking about some interesting topics (or war stories) you could present. I'll post a link in the Meetup today where you can submit idea and vote.

    See you next time,
    Jonathan

Great presentation, cool crowd, beer was meh (I'm a Master Brewer with a software fetish), and the Foosball was great (I was co-winner). Here's to bored Origins!

i'm happy to attend my first HS meetup. there was a wealth of knowledge in this group that i play humble to... i'm genuinely appreciative that you have organized this forum.

i was wondering if you'd be able to make the slides from this presentation (and the last one I missed) available. there were a lot of topics mentioned that i'd want to research more in-depth.

I've been waiting 2 hours for SlideShare to post them. I think they need to attend our meetup :) I'll post them the moment they're ready.

    What presentations are lined up?

    March 25, 2013

    • Katy

Hi Steve, the three presentations will be around these topics:
      - Basics of high scalability and high availability
      - Using a CDN to achieve 99% offload
      - Caching at the code layer

I'm happier with 7 since I will be coming from Oakville - that is, if the timing is still open to discussion.

We'll be opening doors at 6:30 but will try to hold off on the discussions/presentations until everyone gets settled in. Hope that buys you some time!

Nuts turns out I have a prior commitment that evening.

Is 6:30 good for everyone? Or is 7 better?
