Twisted Wheel Scooter Rally 2009

Motoretta Eurosport (map)

Selected By: Benny

This year's Twisted Wheel Scooter Rally is going to be bigger and better than the previous two years. Our plans include a raffle for a Vespa LX 50 as well as a huge group ride and skills contests. There will be much more including scooter test rides of Vespa, Honda, Lambretta, Kymco and PGO models.

In order to speed up the process of the test rides, it would be highly highly recommended that you bring photocopies of your driver's license if you wish to arrange a test ride during the rally. Several copies would be a good idea if you were planning on test riding multiple makes of scooters.

Hope to see you all there this year.smile

We will start at 10 am at Motoretta Eurosport with coffee, snacks and registration. The coffee and light snacks are care of Motoretta (thanks Doug biggrin)
We expect that our group ride shall commence around 11 am or so.

Upon return from the group ride lunch will be available for purchase. This year's lunch will be organic hamburgers by Fresh Wood Grill.

In the afternoon we will sell memberships including renewals, Twisted Gear, TMSC Gear, offer skills contests with prizes for the winners and sell raffle tickets for the Vespa LX 50. Proceeds of the raffle go towards the Food Bank.

One FREE raffle ticket will be offered to each non scooterist attending the rally riding as pillion with an attendee. Please RSVP for your passenger if you are bringing a guest who is interested in the free raffle ticket.

Please bring your cameras and video cam in order to document your day at the rally and take part in our photo and video contest.

Confirmed Sponsors of our rally:
Canadian Scooter Corp. - Vespa, Aprilia, Piaggio, Derbi, Moto Guzzi, Motoretta, Honda Canada, Sym, Peugeot, Lambretta, PGO and Kymco

Don't forget to sign up for the Twisted Wheel Pub Night

Can someone give me some sort of route or ride level the rally will be doing?
I'm hoping Wendy can ride her own scoot up but I'm not sure of her ability to do the group ride.

This will be quite an interesting route, we will be riding over metal grate bridges and up and down hills and doing some twisties. We will encounter both rural and city views, it should be a great ride.

Count on the group ride to take each group about 2 and a bit hours. You will definitely want to start with a full tank and an empty bladder. Don't have too much coffee at Eurosport when you arrive. ; )

Please arrive at 10 am so we can get everyone registered in a timely fashion. Hopefully we can get the group rides going earlier than 11 am if people are on time.

Wonderful event, and despite thinking the sky was going to open up on us- it held out! Plus I now have gas for the rest of the year! :) Thanks again!

I want to thank everyone who helped us make this happen, not only the organizers, but all of the volunteers who helped with every aspect to today's event. I would like to thank our hosts, Canadian Scooter Corporation and Motoretta Eurosport for once again offering us their space and hospitality. Thanks go out to all the distributors for their donations for the raffle and their sponsorship, Honda, Kymco, CMI, PGO, Yamaha and Lambretta. Finally, I would like to thank everyone who attended, you all did great riding in the group ride and there are some of you with some amazing scootering skills out there. Keep spreading the word, get your friends on scooters and get them to join this great club we have, the TMSC.

Had a blast !! Don't get to see most of the peeps often, so it's always such a big number which generates a lot of fun energy !! Got to do the riding tests which I missed last year, and rode a 500 cc Kymco byke !!! PLUS, I finally got my touch up "Excalibur Grey" paint for my bike which I ordered OVER A YEAR AGO !!! THANKS to all the organizers for a great day.. =)

Overall the organisers did a good job. Loved the test ride idea. Missed a lot of the event due to other commitments so don't have complete picture of the day. The ride was too long for my liking. Other than the space provided by the location for having a lot of bikes, it is too far out of the way. I like the idea of spreading the scootering word to those who would never have thought of it. Holding a rally in a location with no passing traffic (ie not scooterists, the public in general) seemed a bit like preaching to the converted.

It was a great meetup. Fun drive, met lots of awesome enthusiasts, and got to test drive some bikes/scooters. All in all a successful day. Thanks TMSC!

Lots of fun for all. The weather was perfect. My only complaint is that there was a strong smell of garbage from the facility across the street.

Well organized events, a well planned route for the ride, and great prizes for the raffle. A very good time, and cooperative weather, and a great chance to meet scooterists from other places, as well as some from TMSC that I have not met at other events.

A big THANK YOU to all the organizers of this years rally. All your many hours of hard work paid off as the rally was another great success. And thank you to the sponsors donations and the various scooter dealers offering test rides on their machines.

It is always important that people show up on time! We left KW @ 9:00 which made us late for the group ride. Luckily for us, Ivan used to live in this area and lead some of us on a nice ride Downtown. As usual the TMSC made us feel welcome and did a good job at organizing the Rally. Lots of our members test drove many of the new models from the dealers that were there. Thanks to Ivan, Andrew and Curtis who lead the ride at different times during the Day. We proved the weatherman wrong and ran into no rain all day!!!!!
