Podcast Basics: An easy way to share your organization's messaging online

Many of you probably have heard of podcasts. A Podcast is just an audio file that is syndicated via an RSS feed, that you download and listen to with your computer or a portable device such as an iPod. it's similar to having your own radio talk show, with topics ranging from health, arts & culture or raising awareness for social causes. For this meet up we will feature two organizations that have been using podcasts and we will take you through the steps of how to make one yourself!

Speakers:
Maria Moriarty
Maria has worked at AlphaPlus for more years than she is willing to admit!! Her background is in providing information and resource support in a library setting – now, in this new Web 2.0 world, Maria is involved in providing those same services using online tools – for example she coordinates the AlphaPlus Blog, and has created the AlphaPlus Tech Podcasts. Maria enjoys exploring technology – she describes herself as an “enthusiastic amateur” – and thinking about how technology tools can be used in adult learning.

Monika Jankowska-Pacyna
Working as Projects Coordinator at AlphaPlus Centre, Monika is involved in a variety of Web 2.0 projects. She specifically enjoys exploring, testing and training others in integrating web-based tools and resources into practice. Her latest initiatives, Web Savvy and Tech Tuesdays, introduce educators to new technologies via face-to-face meetings and workshops. With her background in business and enterprise development and over 10 years in the literacy field, Monika sees first-hand the benefits of using social media tools and open source technology in the non-profit sector.

Justin Kozuch
Justin Kozuch is the founder of Refresh Events, and works behind the scenes bringing together the most engaging and influential minds in Toronto’s vibrant technology scene. During the day, he can be found reading social media marketing blogs, promoting Refresh Events to the community, and networking with industry superstars. In a previous lifetime, he worked as an Interactive Developer, and worked with large brands such as RIM, the Wall Street Journal and Virgin Charter. His claim to fame was once helping find Mayor David Miller a napkin.
