Node School!

We're hosting a special Node School workshop led by Brandon Flowers and a crack team of handpicked mentors, in collaboration with the Toronto JS meetup and the Toronto Node.js meetup. It's going to be AMAZING.

We'll add more RSVP space as we acquire more mentors, so jump on the waitlist if there's no room. Contact us to volunteer -- it's going to be super fun.

In Brandon's words:

This workshop will commence with an introduction to the basics of node and then we'll embark on stream adventure together, working through node's core concepts. We welcome all skill levels and will provide mentors who are keen on sharing their experience and will help you overcome any obstacles.

Unlike some classroom where one lecturer talks at you, this will be a hands on workshop where we'll program together [ possibly working in pairs depending on available laptops ] moving through the assignments together ensuring no one is left behind.

If you’d like to hear more about node school, this podcast gives a great introduction to it and it’s what got me excited to try to do this here in Toronto: http://nodeup.com/fiftyfive

Would it be ok with everyone if I did these exercises inside a docker container? That way when we're done I can commit these to the docker index for anyone who wants to download them later.

For those that are interested I pulled dockerfile/nodejs then ran docker run -i -t dockerfile/nodejs /bin/bash and was working in a node development environment. Worked pretty well. I'll put my work on the docker index if people are interested.

Will we be doing a fresh install of node.js together, or should we come with that done already?

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
