This workshop is for all levels but suited best for photographers who have some lighting experience or have taken a basic lighting course/workshop with a reputable organization.

We will look in depth at using monohead (studio strobes) modifiers, how to make your own equipment on a smaller budget when you are starting out and how to control your lighting scenarios for full effect.

What to bring?

  • camera
  • Fully charged batteries
  • Freshly formatted card
  • Light meter (if you have one)

This is a small intimate group and lots of hands on, come ready to work and learn and make sure you have comfortable shoes on for climbing our step ladder during shoots and setup (as it may be required)

Technical Requirements

Please note that in order to attend and use the off camera strobes, your DSLR camera must have a flash hot-shoe for the wireless transmitter. Please consult your manual to see if your camera qualifies before signing up.  The studio uses an Elinchrome EL-Skyport wireless trigger system.

DSLR Sony Owners: please be advised if you shoot with a Sony DSLR. Sony uses a proprietary hot-shoe for the trigger system, which the studio does not have in stock.  If you plan to use your Sony DSLR, please bring your hot-shoe adapter.

Would love to attend. Any chance you can schedule the next one for Thursday instead? I think there was one other person that asked the same.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
