Geeky Drinks and Boardgames

For the past few years, we've had a ton of different events hosted by the Toronto Ruby Brigade - talk nights, book clubs, hack nights. One thing we haven't really had is a good way to socialize, and meet other people in the community.

Personally, I know of no better way to get to know someone than arguing over some fiddly rules in a tremendously nerdy boardgame like Settlers of Catan, Agricola, or Munchkin.

If you share a love of these sorts of games, please come on by to Influitive's offices. We'll provide pizza, snacks and drinks.

If you have a particular love for a game, and especially if you can bring one, make a note in the comments. I'll include what we have in the office.

I used to be a board game fanatic. I can bring two of my games because they are quite bulky: Monopoly Revolution, Ticket to Ride Nordic Countries, Small World, Settlers of Catan, Catan Seafarers, Carcassonne. Other card games I can bring: Monopoly Deal, Uno. Let me know if any there is a special interest for a particular title.

I'd like to play Battlestar Galactica, but I need another 2 to 5 people to form a group. Any takers? Since the box is kind of big I'll only bring it if there is enough people interested. Otherwise I'll bring Saboteur.

Throwing this out there, but it would be great to get a group of people together to play the more intense games that require many hours of play. Battlestar would be great to play. I also have a game called Twilight Imperium 3 which is pretty hardcore!

Yeah, people from the group Toronto BoardGame and Social play sometimes, but it'd be interesting to play in a group of developers. Anyway, I'll skip the meetup this time.

I don't have any games to bring (other than a crib board), but am happy to learn/jump in on any game, as long as it's 'learnable' in an evening.

Don't worry Josh, we have tons of stuff in the office.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
