We are going to meet every Thursday at Eisenhower Park at 6:30pm and start hiking at 6:45pm. Our hikes will wrap up by sunset (currently about 8:10pm), so the mileage may vary. However, we typically average around 2 miles in just over an hour.
Currently, group preference guides which path we take for the day. The typical options are: the loose gravel trail with inclines and steps (pictured below) or the paved path that has benches to stop along the way and ends at a fun observation deck to overlook the city. We have even split the hiking group in half so that each can enjoy their own preferred hike at Eisenhower. But right now: the majority preference has been the lovely gravel hills of Hillview Trail.
The Hillview Trail hike will be challenging for those who are not used to hiking on inclines or loose gravel, but it will not be a race and nobody will be left behind. Good hike for beginners looking for a new challenge or those who just want to exercise those hiking muscles outside of the gym.
Wear good hiking shoes and carry plenty of water!
Bad weather is likely to cancel this event.
