HOLLY is spearheading the RedLight Children Campaign ? an international grassroots campaign which aims to reduce the number of children sold and trafficked to prostitution each year.

Producers Guy Jacobson and Adi Ezroni took their lives in their own hands when they moved ahead with production on this highly acclaimed film. They were threatened many times by the government, were held at gunpoint on more than one occasion and Ms. Ezroni was held hostage for two weeks. As a result of the film, they have established a global human rights campaign titled Redlight Children that aims to reduce the number of children sold and trafficked to prostitution each year.

About the film:

HOLLY stars Ron Livingston (Sex and the City, Office Space), Chris Penn (Reservoir Dogs; in his last screen performance), Virginie Ledoyen (The Beach, 8 Women); and Udo Kier (Dogville, Dancer in the Dark).

Patrick (Ron Livingston), an American card shark and dealer of stolen artifacts, has been 'comfortably numb' in Cambodia for years, when he encounters Holly (Thuy Nguyen), a 12-year-old Vietnamese girl, in the K11 red light village. The girl has been sold by her impoverished family and smuggled across the border to work as a prostitute. Holly's virginity makes her a lucrative prize, and when she is sold to a child trafficker, Patrick embarks on a frantic search through both the beautiful and sordid faces of the country, in an attempt to bring her to safety.

About the RedLight Children Campaign:

The Redlightchildren.org campaign raises awareness and promotes specific actions that can help decrease the number of children trafficked to prostitution each year. By strengthening legislature and enforcement, there are ways to decrease the demand, the number of clients, and therefore decrease the number of children that are sold to sexual slavery.

The Redlightchildren.org website provides an easy to use platform to send a letter to your representative in government with the ideal blueprint and comprehensive steps to target this issue.

____________________

Dr. Bales' book Disposable People: New Slavery in the Global Economy published in 1999, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, and has now been published in ten other languages. Archbishop Desmond Tutu called it "a well researched, scholarly and deeply disturbing expose of modern slavery". A revised edition was published in 2005. This book was based on the first-hand in-depth study of five slave-based "businesses" in five different countries: Thailand (prostitution); Mauritania (water selling); Brazil (charcoal production); India (agriculture); and Pakistan (brick making). His book was the basis for, and he worked on, the film "Slavery: A Global Investigation" made by TrueVision in 2000.
