  • The Boston Transhumanists Meetup Group

I've just attended this meet-up for the first time. I encountered creative people interacting easily and smoothly, and sharing creative and stimulating insights and questions. I look forward to subsequent meetups.

The informal discussions related to a wide range of interesting science, technology and philosophy topics are generally very lively and engaging, the friendly atmosphere also makes for an enjoyable evening - great meetup.

  • The Boston Transhumanists Meetup Group

I believe that the current cultural and social environment in technologically advanced nations is somewhat hostile to many transhuman concepts and initiatives. The transhuman movement (such as it exists) will be judged by the values put forth by the group, and by the values demonstrated by the actions of the individual members. If I were to take any group seriously, I would expect it to address these fundamental value issues. Otherwise, the meeting is just another form of entertainment and distraction. Which is fine, of course, but I can entertain and distract myself by catching up with the first season of "Lost" on my iPod.
