3/16/13, 9:30am-12pm; Mt. Lebanon Library, Meeting Room A; $10/person; Limit 20 people
New vegetable seeds will be divided amongst and by the participants. Thirty kinds of vegetables were selected, including beans, tomatoes, broccoli, squash, melon, and 20 more!
The number of seeds of each type varies: only three melon seeds (because that is all you need!) but 40 lettuce seeds (because you’ll need that many!) Participants share the cost and the work of dividing up the seeds. Also please plan to share your stories about lessons you have learned – good and bad lessons – about raising vegetables. The coordinator has never grown broccoli, cabbage or leeks, so your expertise about growing these and other vegetables will be helpful to her, at least!
Contact Mary Beth at mbthakar at yahoo dot com or four one two seven three six eight two one six to secure a spot. Or, prior to making a commitment, ask for additional information by email, including the seed types and quantities expected per person.
Come early on seed “sharing” day to be sure to keep your spot, paying at the door. Cost per person will be $10 per person – for hundreds of seeds – a really great deal! Seeds were chosen from the Fedco Seed catalog, with the view of trying new and different varieties, but “sharing” the seeds in order to keep costs low. Mostly organic and only non-GMO seeds were chosen.
Space is limited to 20 individuals, so register early – and come on time!
