Check out citiparks for Green Up Pittsburgh Application and June Composting classes (can include compost bin)

Do you already know of a vacant lot that you would like to help
turn into a community garden. Check this out!

If you are interested in the composting class but don't have a
car to lug a compost bin home in, let me know. We will see if we
can get someone with a truck to help out.

If you have a yard, building a three stage bin system is very
easy and can use recycled materials instead of buying a new
plastic bin.

There are other composting options and worm farms. I know
folks here in Pittsburgh who don't even have any refuse each
week, because they manage to recycle and compost everything,
and it isn't as hard or as weird as it sounds. If you need
more info or help building, let me know. You don't even really
need a yard in some cases.
