The Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture is proud to celebrate Buy Fresh Buy Local? Food Month - A Taste of Place - in September 2009, with a preview in August for Green Drinks. Local Food Month is a month-long series of events that celebrate locally grown, seasonal foods and the people who produce them! The capstone is PASA's annual Harvest Celebration Dinner on September 25, 2009 at the Phipps Conservatory. Join PASA in celebrating local tastes in their right place, all month long! A calendar of Local Food Month events is available on BuyLocalPa.org.The East End Food Co-op
is Pittsburgh's only member-owned natural and organic food market, serving the community since 1977.
Come to the August Green Drinks to get a taste of our September Local Food Month. The Co-op will host an Eat Local Challenge to inspire consumers to learn more about and experience the health and economic benefits of eating locally grown and produced food.
In tandem with the challenge, the Co-op will host a series of local food events including a fermentation class, a Venture Outdoors local food hike, and a free film screening of FRESH. Don't miss the Art Harvest on September 20th, where local food meets local artists and entertainment! For a full list of events and details on the challenge, visit www.eastendfood.coop.The Three Rivers Bioneers
will hold a Conference October 16-18, 2009 at the Pittsburgh Project in the Northside. Come to the August Green Drinks and meet people involved with Bioneers -- a non-profit organization that holds an annual conference to connect social justice, spirituality, ecology, art, and wellness.
With a focus on three themes, 3RB will showcase innovative work happening in our region around Green Jobs, Local Economy, and Water Restoration. Interactive art projects, performances, and youth activities will complement workshops and tours.
