Explore all the hot spots for kayaking in the Apostles, with the comfort of bed & breakfast lodging to return to at night ! We'll take three different day trips and view sea caves, lighthouses, historic landmarks, and have fun exploring the islands by kayak. Trip members will be staying at historic Gruenke's
Inn in downtown Bayfield during their time in the Apostles. Lodging, kayaks, paddling accessories, and lunches are included in the price of the trip.

Our ACA instructors and BCU coaches are the perfect guides for these trips and will make your adventure truly remarkable! The paddling itineraries for these trips are designed for the beginning paddler, but will be enjoyed by the kayak enthusiast!
This trip is rated a GKC Level 2 trip. Participants on this trip should be able to paddle confidently at a beginner level as outline in our ACA L2 or BCU 2 star trainings. Participants DO NOT need to have their L2 or 2 Star awards, but rather SHOULD have taken our ACA L2 training or BCU 2 Star training classes and should feel comfortable with the skills taught in that class.
Itinerary (subject to change due to weather & permit conditions)
Day 1 , Wednesday, July 2
Participants who want to travel with the outfitter can meet at the Geneva Kayak Center at 6am for a 6:30 departure to the Apostle Islands. Room for 5 at $40 roundtrip with outfitter in a large SUV. Participants will put together carpooling thru comment box later on. If participants plan to meet in Bayfield, they should plan to arrive after 3pm as check-in will not be available until 3pm on Day 1. After a leisurely afternoon for site-seeing, we'll have dinner together and discuss the itinerary around 6 pm.
Day 2 , Thursday, July 3
We'll paddle from Buffalo Bay to Raspberry Island, viewing a shipwreck along the way to historic Madeline Island, the only inhabited island in the Apostles. Paddlers will have the opportunity to visit a historical museum as well as local shops and restaurants. From Madeleine Island, we'll paddle back to Bayfield. An optional sunset paddle will be available on the evening of Day 2.

Day 3 , Friday, July 4
Day three's paddling excursion includes a tour of the Sand Island lighthouse and an up-close view of the Swallow Point Sea Caves. An optional ferry trip to Madeleine Island for dinner is available that evening.
Day 4 , Saturday, July 5
A trip from Little Sand Bay along the shoreline of the mainland, to the mainland sea caves from Meyer's beach highlights our final daytrip in the Apostles. Paddlers can maneuver in and out of a variety of arches, openings and tunnels as we paddle along these spectacular caves.
Lunch is Included.
Day 5 , Sunday, July 6
After Breakfast, we'll depart and drive back to the Chicago area. If the group wants, we can stay in the Apostle Islands for one of the boat tours (boat tour not included in the price of the trip).
