An exciting day with a tour of Alcatraz and lunch at Pier Market Seafood Restaurant awaits.
We’ll take BART around 9:30 a.m. arriving in S.F. around 10:30 a.m. where we connect with Muni F bus for a 10 minute ride to Pier 33. We can either meet at Bay Pt. Bart or another BART station or meet at Pier 33 at 11 a.m.
Then it’s a 10 to 15 minute ride to Alcatraz, expecting leaving at 11:30 a.m., where we’ll tour the island for about 2 ½ hours. For information on the island, check out www.alcatrazcruises.com. You’ll need to be prepared on what to wear/weather,
walking & accessibility, food allowed, etc. There is a transport that takes you up the hill to the prison if you’re unable to walk it. It does look like a little trek from the photos.
There’s some great short videos on the web site to watch!
Ticket prices which need to be bought 3 to 4 weeks ahead of time or they sell out are $30 for adults and $28.25 for seniors over 62 years of age. Again, you buy tickets online so you won’t miss the boat & don’t have to stand in line.
Afterwards, we’ll take a short walk to Pier 39 and dine at Pier Market Seafood Restaurant or Wipeout Bar & Grill, weather permitting. Pier Market has chowder and sandwiches for
reasonable prices. A bit of trivia is Pier 39 was formed by the father of the owner of Pier Market Restaurant.
You’re free to browse Pier 39 or we’ll walk back to BART to return home.
I need to know who is sincerely interested in attending so I don’t end up going alone.
