Apple Hills Winery Tasting/Tour and Apple Orchards

If you drive your own car, I'll meet the group around 11 a.m. in front of the Chevron Station near Subway and Mountain Mike pizza at 3600 Carson Road, Camino.  I'll wait there 10 to 15 minutes then you'll have to meet me at Boa Orchards. I drive a light brown Hyundai with Reno on the license plate frames.  My car is full now!

Are you willing to be a driver?  Ask me, phone below...

My favorite place in Northern CA is Apple Hill! Come with me and we’ll visit Lava Cap Winery for complementary wine tasting and Boeger Winery for a tour of the winery.

I’ll stop to visit 3 orchards. Boa Vista Orchards is known for tri tip sandwiches and El Dorado Orchards has applewood smoked turkey sandwiches. A stop at EL Dorado Orchards is a must, Apple Desserts, Caramel Apples, Fresh Apple Cider, Fresh Fruit, Pumpkins and more. Other places offer deli sandwiches or you can bring a picnic lunch.

My main stop, you’ll see, is High Hill Ranch where they have the best deep dish pie with ice cream. There’s a fair offering booths of homemade products and a store where you can buy apples and cider.

The best part is the ambience of being in the Sierras and the feeling of being far away in the country.

Your cost willl be $7 for expenses if you ride in my car and I only have room for 3 people. If there's more interest, I'll recruit another driver.

Send the $ to my paypal address of [masked].

This was my first trip to Apple Hill and I had a great time. The weather was perfect and the scenery was beautiful. I regret that I missed the wine tasting. Instead I went straight to the last stop (I forgot the name). It was very slow getting in and I had to park far away but I did buy a pie to take home and a few apples from the farmers market. I will visit again. Thanks for organizing this Linda.

Well thought out and well organized. Linda, our ever-cheerful hostess, chose three out of four winners as stops (next time, drop that second place, it was not worth it). The first stop was actually my favorite, has the best produce. The winery was excellent - free tastings of their "ordinary" wines which included some really nice, different wines. The last stop, the most popular place in Apple Hill, was a huge disappointment. I did not see ANY apples for sampling or for sale, or apple "stuff" - maybe I missed it. Unfortunately the Apple Hill experience has greatly changed since the last time I was there (almost 30 years ago). It is very commercialized, with every location hosting a mini tented crafts fair. The crafts were for the most part not the best (there were a few true artists with their wares, but most tents were repetitious and uninteresting.) Linda did a great job with 4 cars of people...sort of like herding cats...Kudos to her!

Linda - do you still have room left in your car? If not, I can also drive - my car fits five.

I will be driving from Concord unless it is raining- then I probably won't go. I may want to stop at the Vacaville outlets on the way back- depending on the time & my energy level. If anyone wants to ride with me just let me know.

I have a full car. Bette is looking for a ride and Mikaela is driving so maybe you can connect at BART.

I'm a maybe. I'll know closer to the date. I may want to drive my own car so I can stop at the Vacaville outlets if I have the time & energy. Linda,
About how long do you think you'll be in Placerville?
