Women Traveling Solo workshop

Come to the Hawthorne Library to meet fellow travel enthusiasts and hear a presentation about traveling solo as a woman by Hostelling International USA Volunteer, Bethany Canales. Traveling alone as a woman can be a powerful, exciting growth experience. However, safety is always a consideration and some prep work before you go will help you make the most out of your journey. I am bringing a friend who is doing the Camino de Santiago alone in the fall. She would love to talk to any of you who have done it already!

I just returned from three weeks in Spain that included walking the final 110 km of El Camino de Santiago. Even though I am not a woman traveling solo, I would enjoy hearing advice from an expert.

I caught a summer cold. Don't want to get anyone else sick.

I had put in a post about needing a ride now from Oconomowoc or I will not be attending.

How about having someone video tape it?

I'd really like to attend this, but I just can't fit it into my schedule. I've done airbnb a number of times and had really good experiences all but one time (and I did get my money back that time) -- I really recommend it!

Hi--I would like to attend but the person who I thought would bring me can't. So I am looking for someone that is coming from the Oconomowoc area or further west. I am about 3-4 miles from I-94 on a straight shot from it onto Summit staying on Summet which changes to 2nd. St. then to the first 4-way stop by the Fire Dept. I live in the Apratment building across the street from it on Concord Road. Oconomowoc

Ouch I should have read the name properly.I didnt know this is for women only ,prior to joining. My apologies

No apologies necessary! You're welcome to attend. While the presentation is certainly from a female's perspective and covers travel tips that are specifically for women, there's a lot of great general advice about traveling solo. :)

My male friend would be bringing me since I don't have a car. Would you allow him to attend or would you rather keep it all women? He would have the rest of the library to use anyway.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
