DRUPALCON

Just wanted to direct you to an easy place to find all the Drupalcon videos.

http://dc2009.drupalc... - this is the schedule from Drupalcon, you can see all the titles of the sessions from here. If you click on any of them, you will be taken to the sesssion's node. Somewhere in the comments for each session (probably near the bottom) you will find a link to the video and, most likely, the slides.

DRUPAL IRC

There were a few people on the surveys who didn't know what IRC is (I didn't know until 2 weeks ago) and/or who were interested in finding out more about it. IRC is basically just a system for participating in chatrooms, usually associated with very tech-y people and topics.

So, here is a quick text tutorial to getting on the Drupal-related IRC chatrooms.

Get an IRC Client

I use:
Colloquy http://colloquy.info/... (for Mac)

Others have recommended:
Pidgin http://pidgin.im/... (PC)
Miranda http://www.miranda-im... (PC)

There is also a Firefox Plugin:
download it here: https://addons.mozill...
learn how to use it here: http://www.mozilla.or...

If you're using Colloquy (I assume other clients are similar):

Install as usual, start it up.

choose File -> New Connection (or cmd+n)

type in a nickname (you don't have to register, but should http://freenode.net/f...)
choose "IRC" as the Server Protocol
type irc.freenode.net into the Chat Server box
click "remember this connection" if you wish ;)
and click connect!

Now you have a little box with your connection info listed. Click on the "Join Room" button (or cmd + j)
type #drupal in the Chat Room box
click "Join"

Ta-da! Welcome to the main Drupal chat room! Easy peasy :)

Other Drupal-related chatrooms of interest:

#drupal-support (keep support out of #drupal)
#drupal-design (my fav)
#drupal-themes
#drupal-docs (documentation)
#drupal-views
and on and on.....
