Triangle Drupal Users' Group Message Board › Open Call for triDUG Volunteers
This is an open recruitment call to everyone in the group. We are looking for some volunteers to become Moderators for the monthly triDUG Meetups and the bi-weekly Hack Nights.
General qualifications for being a Moderator are: Journeyman or higher Drupal skill level, experience with participating in the Drupal Community through IRC, g.d.o or Drupal.org Issue Queues, a desire to contribute back to the Drupal Project and previous attendance for at least one triDUG event.
You can volunteer to Moderatre one specific Meetup or Hack Night, or you can volunteer to be entered into the regular rotation of Moderators for either or both events.
You can view a tentative schedule of Events here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Avf9VCc81CvbdGNnNnZCc2hrQUstQkd2UTE2OFdfOUE&hl=en
The responsibilities involved in Volunteering are as follows:
The monthly Meetup Moderator will be responsible for directing the content of the month's meetup. The Moderator will decide on a topic for the meeting and they have the option to either give the presentation themselves or recruit others to present on the topic. The Moderator will write up a description for the monthly meeting's presentation and deliver it to triDUG organizers for promotion. In addtion, the Moderator will welcome everyone to the Meetup, introduce the presenters, moderate Q&A sessions and be available to answer questions about the group to newcomers.
Time Commitment: Volunteering for this job will involve approximately 2-4 hours of work (if you do not present) 6 weeks prior to the event for recruiting presenters and writing the event's description. Approximately 4 hours of work will be required on the date of the event for attendance and moderation of the event. Assuming there are 4 volunteers in the Monthly Meetup Moderator rotation, each Moderator would be responsible for one event every 4 months.
Being the Moderator for a monthly Meetup does not involve securing a venue, catering the event or promoting the event -- Group organizers will continue to handle these responsibilities.
The Hack Night Moderator will be responsible for greeting any newcomers and generally organizing the group towards one or two central Drupal contribution goals for the night. The Moderator will need to be able to introduce newbies to IRC, Issue Queues, Drupal.org CVS, testing patch files, contributing to Documentation, etc. The Moderator will also be responsible for leading a discussion on the g.d.o site prior to Hack Night, which should result in one or two concentrated goals for the group.
Time Commitment: Volunteering for this job involves approximately 2-4 hours of work over the 2-3 weeks preceding the event in order to participate in the g.d.o forum discussions about Hack Night topics/projects. Approximately 4 hours of work will be required on the date of the event for attendance and moderation of the event. Assuming there are 6 volunteers in the Hack Night Moderator rotation, each Moderator would be responsible for one event every 3 months.
Being the Moderator for a Hack Night does not involve securing a venue, catering the event or promoting the event -- Group organizers will continue to handle these responsibilities.
