my ferals being poisoned - please read

Hi Everyone,

I am writing to you for advice or any help - today the property manager of my apartment building carefully laid out tuna mixed with rat poison pellets all over the property as well as a neighbor's property. I thought he was putting down weed killer, so when he left, my boyfriend and I checked to be sure and there was poisoned tuna placed around the edges of the property and under the porch where the cats go. I saw the cats go to it immediately, and my boyfriend and I spent about 1 hour picking it all up and going over every inch of the property removing the food. I believe some of the cats did have some and that there might be some that we did not see, which might be eaten, despite having looked all over.

We called the police and spoke to an unhelpful police officer who told us that she would contact animal control on Monday and that they will contact me. I will be contacting them on Monday as well. I am doing everything I can to stay under control, but my fuse has blown and I need any advice as to what to do in this situation if you or someone you know has been in it before. I have gotten some great support and help already from Feral Cat Assistance Program (thank you amy!). We have not spoken to the property manager who has done this or the landlord whom he works for because we don't want to make any mistakes legally. We are in fear of something happening to us in term of eviction, etc, but our main concern is them coming back and doing this to the cats at a time when we don't happen to be home. I am scared to leave my house because of this. Our neighbors were sympathetic to our concerns ( and they have dogs that could eat the poison), but I doubt any will clean up any more poison if they even see it in the future.

I appreciate everyone reading this email and any advice or help you can offer. I prefer if you email me at [address removed], but you can email me here, too.

Thank you!!!
