Have you seen animations on sites without the use of flash? Have you noticed calendars widgets, drag n' drop features, fading elements and all sorts of dynamic things happening on websites these days? Have you heard of AJAX and want to know what it is and why it's such a big deal? jQuery is a JavaScript library that lets you do all sorts of great things with your websites. Google, Dell, NBC, and WordPress are just a few companies that use jQuery to spice things up. jQuery is one of the tools that helps web applications respond more quickly to user input and mimic some of the user-friendly features of desktop applications. This presentation will go into some technical details but, don't worry, background information and examples will help put the pieces together. If you're not a developer, you'll leave with a deeper understanding of how websites work. If you code, then you'll have another tool to add to your arsenal. I look forward to seeing everyone!
I didn't necessarily learn HOW to do anything, but it was a good basic lesson on how much potential jQuery has, and the basic look of the code. John really de-mystified jQuery to the extent that I'm now determined to learn it and use it all the freakin' time.
It was also my first meetup, and I look forward to being a regular, and maybe teaching a few classes myself at some point.
Thanks John!!

Once again John supplied an overview-style presentation that saved me weeks of self-study and cleared away a lot of my misunderstanding of a technology that is important to my own business efforts.

Great, as always. John makes it understandable for the non-techies but answered all the technical questions that were asked of him. Great information followed by practical application examples. Thank you, John, for your time and effort.

Very informative. I will look for ways to implement jQuery in my website. Also got a lot of good tips on other topics. Thanks again

John did a great job of communicating the material in a clear, easy to understand manner that was appropriate for an audience with a wide variety of experience levels. I learned some great key points that are huge (e.g. that with JQuery your don't have to worry about cross browser compatibility) and also what is possible and where to find the resources I'll need to take and run with adding some really great functionality to websites.

Great presentation! Informative and well presented. Can't wait to try out some of the info presented.
One negative while at the meeting that had nothing to do with the meetup, however. My car was broken into while I was in the meeting and my laptop was stolen and the driver's side window broken out.
