Project Healing Waters DVAMC Community Fair

The Project Healing Waters program is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans through fly fishing and fly tying education and outings.
Those interested in volunteering are paired up with a vet and will help teach them the fundamentals of fly fishing.
We try to help aide in the process at least twice a month.

The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center will be hosting its 60th Anniversary Celebration from April 15 – April 19, 2013. As part of this celebration, they will also be hosting a Community Fair on Wednesday, April 17th from 9:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. They have invited the Raleigh/Durham PHW Group to participate in this historical event.

We will provide a resource table which will allow us to educate the attendees about our program. We would like to provide the opportunity for participants to learn to cast a fly rod and set up a fly tying demonstration. Anyone who would like to help for an hour or two to demonstrate tying flies or demonstrating casting would be welcome.

For any questions, contact Dan Estrem.

This is a good place to go help a vet, who may need a distraction, to help them through the day.
