Project Healing Waters Fishing Day Sunday 10/20/13 - (no longer a family day)

WE ARE STILL FISHING WITH A SLIGHT PROGRAM CHANGE

The PHW Fishing Day will be held at Clearwater Lake in Chapel Hill on Sunday, October 20th from 9:00AM until 3:30PM, rain or shine WITH A SLIGHT CHANGE OF PLANS, this will no longer be our family fishing day.

Due to circumstances beyond everyone's control, the Clearwater lake program has initiated their trout stocking program for the winter fishing season a little early. As a result, the fishing day on Sunday, October 20th (from 9:00AM until 3:30PM) has been changed from a general family fishing day to a: fly fishing only / catch and release day.

We will be fishing for the newly stocked trout in the lake (many of which are trophy size fish).

We will be obliged to follow the Clearwater trout fishing rules while fishing on Sunday which are restrictive in the following manner:
* No trout can be kept;
* No bait can be used;
* No hooks over size 8;
* Use only single hooks that must be de-barbed; and
** Trout must be not be handled, unless absolutely needed to release them.

Since this is not really favorable for children related fishing activities (unless they fly fish) we will be postponing our family day until the spring fish-out.

I am sorry for any confusion or inconvenience that this change may cause in your planning.Please join us Sunday 10/20/13 and enjoy a day of catch and release fly fishing for trout.

    Mark, Absolutely if a child can use a fly rod they can attend. We will be making sure all barbs are mashed down prior to fishing.

    If children can use flyrod can they still attend? Also are the vets using debarred hooks on the flies they have tied?
