The PHP Ecommerce Developer’s role is to design, implement, test, and maintain the Moissanite.com ecommerce web site, and related internal systems. This position will be responsible for the successful operation of Moissanite.com, and will work closely with internal staff and 3rd party service providers, to implement new designs and online strategies to deliver profitable growth. This position will work closely with other IT staff and our Ecommerce division to integrate our platform with enterprise systems and with external vendors. Expertise with and use of a variety of web and application development tools and technologies is required.

NOTE: This position will be filled in our Morrisville, NC office.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
• Participate in setting organizational ecommerce development strategy
• Contribute to web site architecture and overall site structure
• Establish policies and procedures for publishing content changes including application and static content

Analysis, Acquisition & Deployment
• Conduct research into current and emerging web technologies and issues in support of effective and innovative ecommerce
• Review competitor websites, apps, and mobile offerings and recommend changes based on new technology and trends that provide future growth opportunities

Operational Management
• Review on-going capability development and enhancement requests
• Analyze and develop applications to work with our partner’s ecommerce platforms for use in our affiliate and reseller programs
• Work with Program Management and Marketing to review requirements, scope, and timing of changes
• Produce high quality program code and deliver on schedule
• Design, code, install, test, debug, and document web applications using appropriate editors / IDEs
• Utilize change management systems, and revision control systems such as SVN and GIT
• Integrate our ecommerce platform with enterprise systems and commerce systems of external company partners and vendors
• Write and maintain technical documentation; conduct, and participate in design and programming code reviews, and user acceptance testing
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing web applications and content
• Ensure security of all web sites and related applications using best practices
• Perform periodic web site audits and monitor/report on web site capacity, security, and performance

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information technology and/or 5 years equivalent work experience

Preferred Education & Certification
• Magento Developer or Developer Plus Certification

Knowledge & Experience

• 5+ years of PHP/MySQL development, including various APIs, RESTFUL, and SOAP Web Services
• Ability to use debugging tools such as Firebug to assist with CSS & JavaScript front-end development
• Experience integrating code, applications, and services across multiple technology platforms
• Strong understanding of PHP design patterns and object oriented programming
• Experience with PHP frameworks and LAMP stack
• Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks
• Strong relational database skills (Normalized, EAV)
• Thorough understanding of application development methodologies and SDLC
• Comprehensive experience with structuring, developing, and implementing interactive Web sites
• Ability to apply HTML, JavaScript/AJAX and CSS knowledge to create attractive user interface (this is not a design position, but it’s important to be able to produce and maintain a visually appealing product)
• Interpreting and converting graphic designs into pixel perfect standards compliant XHTML/CSS/JavaScript
• Solutions-oriented thinking; always looking for the smart solution to a problem rather than jumping at the first answer
• A desire to be personally responsible for production-level code and a track record of delivering quality bug-free code on schedule

Beneficial Knowledge and Experience
• Magento Enterprise (preferred) or Community Edition including coding, optimization, design, and integration with 3rd party tools
• Knowledge of internet marketing, SEO/SEM and Google Analytics
• Experience with ERP/MES or manufacturing systems
• Familiarity with mobile web app development and frameworks
• In-depth knowledge of web technologies including HTML5, CSS 3.0, JavaScript and XML
