  • Dec 3, 2012 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Jim Lippard will be giving a talk entitled "The Decline and (Probable) Fall of the Church of Scientology." His talk will give some highlights of the Church of Scientology's history, its doctrines, and recent events that seem to indicate an accelerating decline in the organization.

Jim Lippard is an author and skeptical activist. He founded Phoenix Skeptics in 1985 and also served as editor of The Arizona Skeptic and webmaster for the Skeptics Society. He has authored many magazine and journal articles, including "Scientology v. the Internet: Freedom of Speech and Copyright Infringement on the Information Super-Highway" and "The Decline and (Probable) Fall of the Scientology Empire!", both of which were published in Skeptic magazine.

Jeana, an email was sent out to the group a couple of days ago to let people know that the date had changed. The guest speaker's schedule changed, so the event date had to be changed.

I'm sorry I was mistaken, the e-meter was from one of the members in St. Louis where Jim also gave a talk. There will not be an e-meter but the talk should still be interesting.

I know JIm from the BBS's in Phoenix in the 80's. My brother attended some GT's that he attended. He believes it was his record which first brought forth the sounds of the Smiths before he had heard of any such group.

I think I know Jim and or he knew my brother Jim in the 80's , as I am from Scottsdale AZ. DIDN't he work at SCC or ASU? That name sounds so familiar. My bro worked at Intel. Or maybe he was in the New Times a lot??? My brother was the key source for the cover piece on the Church of the Subgenius. He also is not a fan of scientology and blogged about it in the 80's b4 they were called blogs.
